"Fair nuff." She responded, rolling her shoulders back and cracking her neck to either side, with the wolves inching their ways towards her, Mia threw out her arms to either side, her dragon claws coming out and her forearms coated in her draconic flame after a brief flash of a magic circle at the end of each of her fists, staring down the wild, manifested animals, keeping herself lower, scales forming around her eyes and her pupils turned to slits as she started to circle them in turn, staring eachother down like Mia was a wild animal herself.
"Will do..." Dipping to the side as a wolf luncged for her, Mia reached back, grasping it's tail with a burning hand and throwing her weight back around to wack it into the other hound, grinning as they both whined as they collided. She dipped behind a pillar in the structure of the room as a wolf howled and sent ice shards flying her way, retaliating with her own roar as a torrent of flames scorched the floor towards one of the wolves, the beast likely fading the moment it was hit as the 'manifestation' of it faded.
Rushing into the remaining wolf, Mia dropped to her knees, skidding towards it as ice shards flew over her, clocking the wolf's Jaw with an upper cut as she rose back to her feet, landing as the wolfe faded and chuckling to herself. "This is more like it!~"

In honesty, Laoren had prepared herself to take at least a single bite or something. Perhaps she had erred in hanging with Outsiders too much in the past; as a local, Mia definitely looked like she had a much better handle on her abilities. The only hazard that had so much as threatened the winged human was a stray ice shard. Fortunately, she had managed to avoid that by slipping and falling onto the floor in a panic as it whizzed by.
By the time she picked herself up and rubbed at her butt, the welcoming party had already been wiped out. Laoren gave the customary 'job well done' whistle as she looked up the staircase. "Very nice, very nice. I'll have to write you a recommendation, not that you'd probably need it. I even forgot to grant you my empowerment earlier." As she said that, Laoren raised her hand for a high-five, her palm radiating the blackish energy she had bestowed upon the mallet earlier.
"So, what do your dungeon senses tell you our path is? Straight ahead through the main door? Or should we check out the kitchens or something downstairs. For some reason I usually generate at least one kitchen."

Hearing the whistle come from behind her, Mia gave a cheeky smirk and a thumbs up to her companion for the day, proud of the fact she was able to manage the wolves, but now that she was really taking this all in she had to say âYa know Iâm impressed by what you can conjure up. Bet you can make a whole army of beasties if you put your mind to itâŠthen again if youâre giving the curse on this thing physical form I guess I can lend a lot of credit to that thing doing some of the work eh?â
She didnât mean to demean the effort of the girl, whatever she did to conjure this place up was damn impressive and much more of a bruiser Mia couldnât even begin to theorize how exactly such magic worked. She scoffed at the idea of being written a recommendation or a review. âThanks but no thanks, I like to just spread my talents through word of mouth ya know?â She smiled more genuinely, glancing around the place and hearing the womanâs words.
âWellâŠwhile most dungeons are pretty straight forward in reality, justâŠget to the end, I dunno but Iâm gonna guess by the looks of this place its kinda set up like a video gameâŠsooooâŠâ She let her eyes drift along the wall, spotting a door that vaguely made her feel like it might lead to a kitchen. âMost dungeons in games need some secret item to get to the boss. If your dungeonâs anything like those, Iâm gonna guess we need some special fire to unlock the ice dungeonâŠwhere better to find a fire than the kitchen?~â

"An oral review, then. I will certainly pass your name on," Laoren said with a slight nod. She looked around at the icy domain and sighed. If only she could conjure such things up out of nowhere, wouldn't that be something? "You have the right idea. I can only give things a different form. If I wanted an army, I would have to find a concept that people considered roughly as threatening as an army."
Lowering her hand for the time being, Laoren looked at the side doors where Mia was looking. "Ah, you've come around on the joys of abusing the narrative, have you? Soon, you too will be standing in taverns holding a vague and rickety sign. Provided you needed help fighting, which I can't imagine," she admitted as she walked towards the door that her accomplice was looking at.
The handle did not give way when Laoren tried it, and it seemed to be locked. Undeterred, she reached down and tapped her boots, channeling her energy into them. After three or so kicks, she was able to knock a small hole in the door with the help of her magic, after which she reached through and unlocked the door. "You probably could have just broken it down, but I'll get rusty if I leave things up to others too much," Laoren explained, rather shamelessly for someone who had earnestly requested to be carried out of a moving train.
Within, there was indeed a kitchen of pristine quality, but, in fitting with the mansion's renaissance architecture, much less modern than kitchens nowadays. Laoren began poking around, looking at the cooking utensils with a frown. "No gas stove or anything...let me know if you see anything useful." She briefly looked at a door in the rear of the kitchen that might have led to a cold storage room, but...a cold storage room in an icy manor was a bit too many layers of cold for Laoren handle, mentally speaking.

âWell erâŠan Oral review would be nice but not exactly what I-â She stopped herself, raised her hands to even physically stop the conversation path she was going down and chuckled a little at Laoren. âYa know what, if you wanna go around just singing my praises for me go ahead. I more just meant rumors and heresay but if thatâs how you wanna go about it power to ya.â Of course she may have misunderstood a little herself, but she just found it amusing whatever the case.
âDunno what abusing the narrative means but I donât wanna go and fight some weird ass ice dragon you conjured up without the secret boss beating maguffin. Or however you say that.â Shrugging casually, sheâd head over to the door and watch the girl use her magic to kick down the door, whistling a little at the power behind her kick. âAh donât worry about it, I ainât too big a glory hog to not let you handle a door.~ Howâd you do that anyway? That some weird extension of your manifestation power or something separate?â She tipped her head, always a little curious to how magics worked even if she didnât understand half of them even when they were explained to her.
Shifting her eyes around the old looking kitchen, Mia was disappointed the maguffin wasnât all that obvious, pulling out draws and tipping out the contents, not at all sure how to work with this whole manifestationâŠthing, and just doing her best given the circumstances. A long sigh came out of her as the only place left to check seemed to be the cold storage room at the back. ââŠIf I were a tricky dungeon hiding a flameâŠI know just where Iâd hide itâŠand I hate that I doâŠâ
Trying the door, Mia found it locked but growled deeply. Rolling her head back and forming her magic circle before her flames again. Bursting the door down with a blast of fire, the room inside would be at least a little warmer as the blonde entered, glancing around and hoping not to be in here long.

"Ah, seems you're well-versed already," Laoren responded at Mia's comments on the dungeon. "Anyway, my enhancement magic is something entirely distinct from this manifestation spell. You might say that my power is meant to defeat whatever I created this dungeon from." She walked over to a set of cookwear as she talked, pulling out a knife. "This has its disadvantages though. If I try to empower a weapon I find in here..." As she channeled energy into the knife, it simply dissipated into black smoke.
After Mia had already blown down the door, and in an actually efficient manner to boot, Laoren commented, "I would've expected the boiler room or something, but I suppose a subversion of expectations makes sense in its own way." She followed the pugilist into the cold room with noticeable reluctance. It seemed to be fairly standard, with some hanging slabs of meat in the back and crates stored with what looked like perishable produce of all sorts.
However, as they went in, their attention would inevitably be drawn to a cauldron in the rear, which bubbled lightly. Laoren went over to take a look, finding some clear liquid inexplicably boiling within. The area around the cauldron was noticeably even colder than the rest of the cold room, which was already colder than the palace itself.
"This...seems like the opposite of what we're looking for, maybe?"

Mia wasnât exactly sure what she was expecting going into an even colder room in an already cold mansion looking place but her eyes wandered curiously as she tried to find the magical maguffin whatever it might be. There were a few meaty items hanging from the rafters, but Mia guessed from the display that magic didnât work properly on items found here, that the food probably didnât taste all that god either.
âWell itâs backwards logic, but some dungeons work on backwards logic. Or so videogames tell me.â She rolled her shoulders back with a shrug and wandered over to the cauldron that had caught her companions attention, shivering and pulling In her arms, starting to reject the cold hard thanks to her dragon blood as her skin felt like it was burning. She wanted out soon.
Spotting the bubbling liquid, she was fairly curious, letting herself get close despite the close and positioning her head above it, suddenly getting a smell similar to alcohol filling her nostrils and recoiling as she covered her lower face with a firm clasp of her hand. âAh shit. Dunno what it is but if I know my shit itâs flammableâŠâ She glanced to Laoren, trying to confirm if this idea was a good one. ââŠwe could set it infront of the big door? Iâll set it alight, blow the thing open? Heck if we can carry it in there we could probably just throw it over whatever we find inside and set them alight.â

Seeing Mia's brief reaction when nearing the pot, Laoren sniffled as she tried to unclog her nose enough to smell what was going on. After some unladylike snorting sounds, she, too, was able to take a whiff of the alcohol-like odor. "Ah, yeah. I see what you're getting at. Makes sense to me." Noting that her companion's discomfort mirrored her own, she moved quickly around to the other side and gave the container a test tilt.
"It's not all that heavy," she reported, looking surprised. However, the cauldron itself was still cauldron-sized, even if the weight was more manageable than one might expect from a vat of liquid. "You could probably carry this yourself, but I think we'd best take a side each. For balance's sake and whatnot."
As it seemed that this liquid was the source of cold in the room, Laoren eyed the cauldron with understandable wariness, touching a finger to the side of the pot to test the temperature. Almost immediately she drew it back with a flinch, but then tentatively pressed her joint against it again. "Ice cube-y, but tolerable."
She squatted down and rubbed her fingers together, ready to lift on the word 'go'. Or any word, really, besides maybe 'no'.

Mia wasnât too eager to grab the thing, but it had to be done in the end. With Laoren offering to help she saw the logic and didnât put up a fight, but at the sign that it was so cold, she did cover her hands in scales once again before touching it, hoping the space between her scales could act as insulation as she hoisted the pot up on a- â1âŠ2âŠ3!â Lifting with the third number, she started to carry the pot out back to the main hall where the supposed âboss doorâ was.
âSoâŠwe saving this for whateverâs behind that doorâŠor ya think weâll need it to blow the door open in the first place?â

With some awkward struggling on Laoren's part and presumably a little less so on Mia's, they were able to plop the cauldron down in front of the main door, after which Laoren began to examine it. A few test tugs and look-arounds later, she smirked.
"I might not fight very well, but cheating myself through these sorts of places is easy enough," she boasted, thumbing at a pretty noticeable keyhole. She plucked a single feather from her wing before standing around idly. "Gotta give it a moment before this feather is no longer 'part of me' and all."
After she felt sufficient time had passed, she channeled her black energy through the feather and slid it through the keyhole, jiggling it around a bit until she'd broken what she wanted to. Finally, and with ostentatious flourish, Laoren threw one of the doors open (as the other wouldn't budge) before bowing to allow Mia through.
The room beyond appeared to be a reception hall of some sort, lacking in any customary furniture besides the single carpet leading up the center that one would usually expect. Near the rear of the room, there was an immaculate ice sculpture of a hydra, heads depicted mid-hiss.

Mia rested the cauldron down to one side as she let Laoren get to work on the lock, watching her wait for the feather to 'disconnect' from her and chuckling just briefly at the oddity of the logic behind this magic, but in the end it did work so she coudln't really find herself complaining. So close to the potential end, she rounded the cauldron and hoisted it off the floor with her hands cupped around the bottom, this time following Laoren and carrying it the last distance herself, looking up to the mighty beast frozen at the end of the room.
"Something tells me it'd be a bad idea to melt that ice...but I'm also gonna guess we need to beat this thing to do our job eh?" She'd wait a moment for confirmation before letting out a long sigh, buffing her strength up with some magic and tossing the cauldron up into the air, slamming her fist into the bottom of it, the force travelling through the metal cauldron and into the liquid, firing the flammable substance over the frozen Hydra like a shotgun blast of the stuff.
Pulling a box of matches out of one of her pockets, Mia could easy just breathe fire over the thing to start the process, but instead, she puffed flame over the edge of a matchstick, and offered it to Laoren with a smirk.
"Your dungeon. Fancy doing the honors?~"

"The way to success is paved with bad ideas...in settings like this, anyway," Laoren rationalized in agreement with Mia, looking on with some amazement as Mia managed to punch liquid all over the statue in one stroke. There was something impressive about an application of brute force that was in equal parts flagrant and efficient.
Having expected a nice burst of Mia-fire to start the theatrics, Laoren had a look of momentary surprise when she was offered a lit match. After a moment of consideration, she took it. "Clearing my own dungeon...I suppose it's like, how do you say, eating your own cooking?" Without elaborating at all on the simile, she tossed the flame onto the statue.
The effect was immediate, if a little different than expected. The sculpture roared to life, heads flailing in pain, and yet the ice had not broken off to reveal an actual hydra underneath. Rather, the ice itself moved with the fluidity of a living creature. Laoren had just enough time to be surprised before the creature charged her, one of its serpentine maws flying towards her.
She managed to duck low enough not to get eaten, but the hydra's lower lip slammed into her, knocking her back as she rolled across the ground, still healthy enough but a little dazed. Meanwhile, another of its heads began to fire icy shards in Mia's direction, similar to those of the wolves from earlier while the creature's body charged forward.

Mia smirked nice and wide as Laoren seemed to take some satisfaction in being the one to light the fire here. It was a fair compromise. She was the one who was seeking out this job afterall so Mia felt that she should be the one to do some of the cool shit. Heck she even made the dungeon with all the cool shit in it, so it was even more fair that she be the one taking down itâs big bad. It was her creation.
What Mia didnât expect was the Hydra to actually start screeching so soon. Sheâd expected it to thaw out and the fire was the trick to unlocking the boss, she didnât expect to just set something alight like that right from the start. Heck if the boss had been flesh sheâd have done it anyway, now it was just a surprise.
âLAOREN!â Watching the girl get fucking decked by the hydraâs lower Jaw, Mia threw out her arms coating them in her read scales. She blew out a torrent of fire to meet the ice shards, but a few managed to break through, mostly missing her but one giving her a sharp pain as it lodged into her shoulder, the dragon roaring out in pain and annoyance as one of the heads came in to tackle her like it had Laoren.
âImpact!â A more neutral shaded magic portal appeared through the swing of her fist, letting her slam a super-powered punch across the jaw, sending the loose necked lizardâs head swirling in another direction, Mia glancing back to Laoren while she could. âHey dungeon master! Maybe could use one of those buffs right about now!â

Though she'd gotten chumped just now, it seemed as though Laoren had enough experience to at least shake it off quickly, getting back on her feet as Mia delivered a meaty punch. The call for aid came just as one of the hydra heads geared up for another blast of ice, this time towards Laoren.
She whooped and dove to the ground, managing to slide a good distance towards Mia as a result. Though the flooring itself was not made of ice, it was quite well-polished, at least where the ice had not struck yet. This allowed Laoren a nice mirrored view of the ice shards impacting on the ground just behind her.
Once again, she pulled herself to her feet, this time next to Mia. "Here, have this," Laoren panted, slapping her hand onto Mia's shoulder, both to steady herself but also to channel her black energy through the front-liner. This magic also had the side-effect of eating away at the shard in her shoulder slowly.
Now that the two were together, all of the heads focused upon them, two closing in from the sides to bite while two more geared up to fire more ice down the center. "I got right!" Laoren shouted out, hoping to take at least some of the heat off of Mia. In a quick motion, she withdrew the snot-encrusted shopping list from earlier, enchanted it with her magic, and tossed it at the snake head's open mouth.
Its reaction when the object touched its tongue could only be described as 'violently offended' as it reared back to flail, but it did have the intended effect of slowing that head for a moment at least.

Mia felt a rushing sensation through her veins as she finally got a taste of this buff her companion in arms was dishing out. Boy it felt good! She wasnât sure just how much she was getting buffed here but she could already punch away a hydra head if she put her magic behind it.
âThen I got left!â Almost cheering out her statement that sheâd be taking the hydra head striking from the other side, sheâd rear back and slam her fist into the incoming hydra head, empowered by her new friendâs magic and her own, she ended up knocking the head clean out, stunning one of the hydra heads preparing for an ice blast, and leaving Mia to spit out a much chunkier fire ball to evaporate the ice shards launched by the other.
âOne head down! Itâs gonna be off balance nowâŠyou got a plan or shall I just go to town on this thing!?â
