I - Character Application Rules- OCs only.
Basing some of a character's traits on the FC is fine-- ex: if your FC is from a sports anime, there's probably a lot of art of them playing that sport, so having your character do so too to make use of it is fine!-- but please do not app full expies. Give your characters plenty to make them unique people. If you have a muse who was originally a canon but has been developed to a point they're basically an OC, try changing the name and appearance. If it makes it impossible to tell they weren't always an OC, you're good to go! If-- especially for an Outsider character-- we can still tell who it used to be, we'll have to ask you to change more.
- Use the provided app template and be patient.
Please do not alter the template. Feel free to talk about your character in chat all you like as you work, but once finished just post a link in the Mod Summons box and wait. Do not poke staff about reviewing it. Keep in mind reviewing can be a time-consuming process and we may not always have the time or mental energy to do it immediately even if we're doing other things, although we will always try our best to get to it in a timely manner.
- Be reasonable, respectful, and creative with your character concepts/designs.
"Realistic" is hardly a word we'd harp on here, but don't make your character so overpowered that it ruins others' fun. A character that can't be challenged is no fun for anyone. Similarly, you are not the Main Character; remember this is an RP setting and everyone deserves a chance to shine. Please also be mindful if you write disorders or disabilities that you do your research, and avoid doing such things simply to be "cool" or to use them for laughs. If your character is blind, occasional situational humor around that fact is fine, but if the character is effectively a walking series of blind jokes, please don't.
- Please use a semi-realistic, but not real, Face Claim for human-ish characters.
Although the board is largely animanga, anything with semi-realistic proportions that is not a real photo is permissible. For instance, Kingdom Hearts, Avatar: the Last Airbender, Dream Daddy, or even original art or character creator screenshots with an appropriate style are fine. Canon art of, for instance, Mighty Magiswords or Star vs the Forces of Evil would be "too cartoony", but stylized fanart of characters from such shows may be allowed.
If you can't find a face claim for your character, it's fine to just describe them. This especially goes for animalistic characters and less human-looking races like orcs.

II - Natives and Outsiders- NATIVES
A native character is one who was born in this world. They tend to have a better grasp on their powers and are thoroughly used to the massive melting pot of magical races that inhabit the World Tree.
- OUTSIDERS
Outsider characters come from Somewhere Else, though where that is can vary greatly. For reasons unknown, in recent decades, increasing amounts of people have been transported from other worlds to live here. They never have a solid memory of how they got here, though the rest of their past tends to be in-tact. These are characters from other fandoms, essentially. Sci-fi characters, mundane characters, Pokemon trainers and Hogwarts students, etc. By apping an Outsider, you can keep your history in-tact and simply drop them into this world.
Outsiders can spontaneously change race and/or develop powers when dropped. For instance, your mundane human might become an elf with ice magic, or they could stay mundane and have to learn to cope with all the powered folks around them. When outsiders do gain powers, they can be a little unwieldy at first, so please keep that in mind and avoid playing a character with a perfect grasp right away. Culture shock is also a prominent issue with most Outsiders, although some come from worlds that already had powers and/or very diverse citizens, so for them the effects are lessened.

III - Races and Powers- RACES
Characters may be of nearly any race, provided it fits into the world. Some races, like "Alien", would not typically fit, but would be fine for an Outsider character. Feel free to make your own! You can also customize more later by visiting the Cosmetic Shop!
You can even make a race differently than someone else has used it with the excuse that they're different sub-races. For instance, one werewolf can have a feral wolf form while another might have an anthropomorphic wolf form, and the rules of their transformation might be different. We'd simply handwave this as two different strains of lycanthropy.
Most animals and mythical creatures in this world are feral, and creatures like small dragons and griffins may be kept like horses. However, some animals/creatures are randomly Awakened, and can be played as characters. When recognized, Awakened characters will be treated with the same dignity as any humanoid race, although they may choose to act feral to try to fool others for shenanigans if desired. Awakened creatures are almost never kept as pets or mounts, although some friendships may resemble those dynamics at times. Their feral counterparts are fair game to keep however.
While canon characters are not allowed, canon races from any series are. For instance, you could not be Ash's Pikachu, but you could be a Pikachu, or have one as a pet. Pokemon and similar creatures are limited to three per character (or less, depending on the relative strength of the creatures) when kept as pets/familiars/etc.
Notably, you could also be a Digimon, but you could not own a Digimon, as Digimon would qualify as Awakened. If you really really wanted a Digidestined and partner, you would need to app two separate characters.
Characters should not be less than 4 inches or more than 10 feet tall, although a more moderate size is highly recommended. This is considering bipeds, so things like naga or dragons can be longer than 10 feet, just not 'stand' taller.
- POWERS
Characters may have almost any powers, so long as they are balanced and aren't used to force anything onto other characters. Powers that inherently force something, such as mind control, are allowed, but require the other player's explicit permission in order to work, so it's best not to take them unless you're okay with only using them sparingly. Powers on too grand a scale, such as turning back time for everyone, will be declined. We don't want a specific ban list, we just want people to be reasonable with what they choose.
Powers are inherently "magical" in nature, but they don't need to reflect typical ideas of magic. Inherent abilities and things resembling superpowers are also fair game.
Native characters typically have had schooling or a mentor to help them control their powers, but some are natural talents or otherwise self-taught.
See more about powers HERE. Powers are apped separately from your character to avoid delaying you if you just want to start interacting. You are allowed to play without finishing your powers.
