Miles comes from an Earth where humans have taken to the stars. They established outposts and colonies on distant star systems that can support life, while humans terraformed planets they cannot survive. The United Earth Government was formed and the United Coalition Armed Forces were formed as well. For a long time, the Jäger family served in the military. From the 2nd World War to the mid twenty-first century Resource Wars, they fought for the cause. That wasn't going to change when the Coalition Forces came into existence. Miles's father, Jordan Jäger was a German-American who continued the tradition and joined the Coalition Marines. While he was in the service, he met a Navy  fighter pilot named Liu Ming. The two fell in love and Miles was born. 

Miles Jäger was born on October 31, 2247 to Colonel Jordan Jäger and Captain Liu Ming in Manhattan, New York. He was the only child. In school, the young man was at the top of most of his classes. Regarding sports, he excelled in soccor, track and a new sport that was introduced called GravBall. When he was 17, Miles enlisted in the Coalition Marine Corps as a grunt instead of going for officer ranks like his parents wanted. During his training, the young man found he had a natural skill with firearms. After graduating from Coalition Marine boot camp, Miles didn't see war until he was 21. The outer colonies grew restless under Coalition control and it eventually blew up into civil war.
