âSo, in your world, thereâs really some version of me whoâŠwhat was it they do again?â
Mia had the gist of it, but Niso rolled his head back all the same, feeling like heâd explained this like 3 times already, but he supposed it would be difficult for anyone who didnât know what a Pokemon was to understand the concept. He lived in that world all his life and even he didnât understand how they trapped and commanded such powerful creatures so easily. âOkay the barebones version is she controlled monsters who were specifically really good at punching shit, and she did it so well she ran a challenge building for people wanting to prove they could control monsters better than she could.
When this Mia still looked more than a little perplexed, Niso sighed softly and made it a fair bit clearer for her blonde companion for the day. âShe was basically our worldâs equivalent of a âboss fightâ.â
âHAH!â The new Mia chimed in, glad to hear she was getting good representation from the other world version of herself. Even when Niso had assured her she was taller and even looked a little stronger if he was being honest, the blonde was more than eager to hear about the supposedly badass tales of her other self. âAnd you say she lost her arm fighting some super strong monster?â
âAnd she got a robotic replacement. Which is a lot cooler when you donât have magic to regrow limbs.â
âSiiiick.â She chimed in with a nice wide smirk. As the two wondered idly into an arcade, a place Mia had been walking with Niso to show him cause, apparently, the little guy got bored very easily, and the salary of a bar pianist didnât lend itself to let him be all that financially sound, so a few coins here or there would be nice just to get a good arcade game in here or there.
As they arrived, it seemed there was a bit of a fuss at one of the back arcade games, some kid was playing a fighting game that seemed like a near clone of something from back in his world. Niso scoffed a little as he was inviting challengers, a murmur in the crowd making it clear this kid had been undefeated for a fair few matches, and a cheeky smirk forming on Nisoâs lips as he glanced to Mia, wanting to test how alike the two Miaâs he knew were.
âHey why donât you give it a go? Great fighter like you? Couldnât hurt?â
Mia had never played the game before, but she figured it couldnât be all that hard. Sheâd played a fair few videogames and could do really well in racing games so this couldnât be all that bad surely? Boy was she quickly proved wrong. Before she knew it she was at the arcade game just shouting for someone to tell her how to look, and even quicker still, the 2 rounds needed of Kos were over and Mia was out, Niso giggling a little from the back of the crowd.
âWell thatâs confirmed, both you and my Mia are ironically shit at fighting games.~â He had a big cheeky smirk, and Mia grabbed his wrist and raised it up into the air.
âHey we got your next volunteer here for a smackdown kid.â
Now, Niso knew t his was revenge but held a casual smile, his eyes focusing on the arcade cabinet, not submitting to any of the teasing comments from the kid beside him who said this scrawny looking kid in his big brotherâs hand me downs couldnât beat him either. Niso didnât even bother to roll his eyes, as when he picked his character, one similar to his favourite in his own worldâs version of the game, before his opponent new it he was hopping around the screen, pulling off familiar combos with a dull expression, almost as if he didnât even really need to pay attention.
The second round was a bit rough as his opponent clearly realized he needed to take this seriously, but with a slither of health clinging to the end of his life bar after enduring his opponents combo, he threw his opponent into an air juggle of his own, flinging him up into the air and flipping about left and right off the walls of the stages. A lot of people even at home thought this characters wall jumping was unwieldy, but with the right timing Niso figured out how to chain it monsteroubly into an air juggle. He heard one member of the crowd even declare it was âdisgustingâ. Another was even convinced Niso only hid this combo till the end to show off. He paid attention to neither of them, and simply pulled back with a proud smile as he managed to finish the combo off and be declared the victor by the console.
When Mia gave him a quizzical look, Niso simply answered. âWe have this game in my world tooâŠand I could get VERY bored.â
