Orion’s strain of lycanthropy has two forms: a quadruped form and a bipedal form. The quadruped form is almost identical to a wolf. He can take this form on any day aside from the full moon and the new moon. His bipedal form occurs only on the full moon and is completely out of his control. He doesn’t remember much (if any) of it in that state. This type of lycanthropy also ages the individual incredibly slowly. Orion is weak to any and all types of silver. Items containing silver can be skin irritants when touched while things with high grade silver can burn and scar.
Appearance | ||
Height: 5’7’’ (170cm) | Build: Muscular Orion is kind of young looking. Guestimates tend to be middle teens at most. His features are soft and rounded. His build is surprisingly toned and muscular, but one doesn’t often see that directly under his baggy clothes. His skin tends to be a tan/olive color that gets darker and darker and darker with exposure to the sun. It is clear Orion is a creature of the outdoors. His hands and feet are callused to hell and back. Even his ears seem to be a little callus. Is he a callus? Hard to tell. Don’t get clawed by his well-trimmed but razor-sharp nails. He has numerous scars and tattoos across his body. However, the most prominent ones are a set of two claw marks that trail from his chest down to his stomach. The largest tattoo across his back is a depiction of World Tree with wolves running under it. He also has the Spanner-like tattoo on his chest with an O in it instead of the S. Orion’s dark green hair contrasts well with his bright spring-green/yellow eyes. This is even more apparent in his wolf forms. His vision is not the greatest, however, and he does wear glasses in order to correct for some nearsightedness. In his wolf forms, he doesn’t even bother with them. Orion’s quadruped form is a standard gray wolf. He has a brownish white hide with a long stripe of dark green down his back. His eyes are still a spring green/yellow color. His bipedal form is completely dark green and has vibrant/loud yellow eyes.
Personality | ||
“He’s ok” tends to be what people go away with when they meet Orion. He can be reasonably sociable, engage in small talk, and go on with his life, but he doesn’t stand out to the average viewer. He can be vaguely distant and indifferent towards others, shrugging off their burdens and problems since they’re not his, and he doesn’t form meaningful relationships that easily (nor does he really want to). He prefers organized working relationships to most other things and has a nasty habit of sometimes seeing others as tools rather than unique individuals. However, it is not that he is incapable, as he does find deep connections rare but possible. It just takes a really good match up of personality or a lot of effort. Or both. “Crafty, stubborn, and kind of an idiot” is how the pack tends to categorize Orion. He has a keen intellect and understanding of very niche and specific things, often pushing to the very depths of a subject, but there are a lot of things that he’s just a dumbass about. His stubborn nature tends to come in two forms: either complete confidence or complete disbelief. The latter is what happens more often than not. It’s hard for him to really believe in things that are not straight up laws of the universe, and he stubbornly adheres to those before anything else. He believes in himself in this sort of weird dichotomy of assurance and self-deprecation. He knows he can do it, but does that mean he has the energy, time, or will to? Now that’s a question for the ages, my friend. Just as much, he can be grossly reckless at times, doing what his gut tells him rather than what his head does. While he can be very logical and understanding, he’s been exposed to so much feral tendency that that often acts first and foremost. Does he like this about himself? Hardly. It’s a struggle, and it’s so annoying. “Menacing” is a word that enemies describe in more ways than one. Orion is no stranger to conflict and almost always the first one to bite. While social conflict is a little more tedious and awkward for him, when just asked to let loose and destroy something, he’s all for it. He relishes combat but also hunting. He has honed a lot of his skills to be reasonably good at both even if his body can’t always keep up with others in the pack. You wanna fight? You get a fight. “Distanced, depressed, and isolating” are the words specific people in the pack will also mention. Since coming to the World Tree, Orion has integrated into society, yes, but he always seems at a vague distance from others. Sure, he will hunt with the pack and enjoy some of the social structure that comes with it, but he can sometimes come off as a lone wolf in mentality. Deep down, he is conflicted about his desires to go home and his freedom here. He finds that this is a good “prison” for him all things considered but misses his home world’s powers. He misses connecting with his mafia family, and he misses his parents which is the source of a lot of pent up contention. All of this can sometimes break down into someone who spends a lot of time alone and wandering off alone sitting in silence and the like.
History | ||
Orion was born in a Katekyo Hitman Reborn AU world approximately fifty years after the end of the events in the manga. His mother was Oriana Verdi, the daughter of Arcobaleno Verde, and a renowned Flame and Box researcher who was on par with and perhaps even superseding those who came before her in almost every way. His father was Abraham Alim, an outsider to the mafia world, who tripped his way in by being a relatively skilled psychologist with a considerable amount of research aimed at those in the underworld. Orion’s parents were very much in love but had sort of weird ways of expressing it. Arguments were just as common as laughter moments. Research was a shared interest. They could be harsh to one another but always seemed to hold together rather well. That was, at least, until Orion was born. They had never really wanted a child. Oriana had never wanted to be pregnant. However, after some consideration, they decided to keep this one and do their best as parents. It was a messy situation for everyone involved. For all these reasons, Orion’s childhood was something of a mess. While his parents were at work, his aunt Carmina took care of him. Occasionally rough individuals came and went from their home. He became attached to and very close with some members of this “extended family”, but very often few wanted anything to do with him. He was taken care of, sure, schooled, sure, and offered many things, sure, but it was all rather hollow gestures, really. That was, at least, until his latter childhood when he showed incredible prowess with Flames. Normally a person expressed only one Flame, and it could take years to master. Orion had four. His strongest with Lightning, an inheritance from Verde, but just as well the three others were nothing to scoff at. He shattered ring after ring with this overwhelming power, and it was this that intrigued and worried Oriana and Abe. He was demonstrably powerful for a child, and an agreement was made that the adults would keep box weapons, box animals, and rings away from him until more time had passed and more training could be done. This did not sit well for Orion. He was angry and rebellious. He stole rings off of other members of the mafia quite frequently. Box animals. Box weapons. Anything he could get his hands on were his. When Orion took his mother’s prized research and released it into the streets of Okinawa with no regard for anyone else, the monster that emerged was so charged with his dense Flames that it went on an uncontrolled rampage that cost millions of dollars in damages. It was this incident that sent Orion to jail for the first time. He was a child, of course, and there were different stipulations for him, of course, but there he sat for a night before being sent home. This trend only worsened over the years. Orion did poorly in school despite his intellect. He spent most of his time on his niche Box Weapon projects that held his interest. He clashed with his parents, with the mafia, with the government, with everyone but a rather selective group of friends that he felt were valuable. His mother tried everything to curtail him, but when the Vindice finally came for him, she reluctantly obliged to leave him there. It was here where Orion in all his stupid prowess would also learn the Flame of the Night. It was too much for him to control, however. It tore apart his body and sent him spiraling into another dimension entirely, The World Tree. He was a young man confused, alone, and usurped of his powers. He couldn’t even summon his Flames at all. It terrified and angered him. It was in stumbling through the wilderness that night that he was attacked by a feral werewolf under the full moon. He was bitten, transformed, and left in a mess of fear and anger until dawn. It was at dawn that the werewolf who had unfortunately bit him, Klaus, would find and apologize to him. After that, a lot of information was shared. Orion learned more about the world and more about Klaus. He’d end up following him to the pack he belonged to. Over time, Orion integrated into this lycan society. It was vaguely similar to his home mafia, and for that reason, Orion appreciated it. He grew stronger, bolder, and wilder as time went on. It was a different kind of existence, but Orion liked it. The only thing he really didn’t like was aging so slowly. A decade passed, and he still looked like his fifteen-year-old self. It was just part of this lycan strain. How annoying. Everything else though? It was nice. He followed where the pack went wandering through society after society pretty easily. That’s basically how life has gone, though. |
