“Orion, what the hell are in these??” A gruff, short young man with spikey orange hair barely pressed down by a baseball cap asked as he lifted a crate off the ground. “What’d you do, fill ‘em with rocks?” The Orion in question was in the process of lifting another crate over his shoulder only to pause and glance sideways. Yellow eyes stared intently at the other young man hard enough to make him glance away. “Well??”
“Basically,” Orion answered rolling his eyes right after. “Rocks for stupid people to smash their faces on, dipshit. C’mon, the trader is just up the street.” Orion was already moving now, and the younger man at his side sputtered a few times before lifting the crate a little more comfortably and following right after.
Wandering through the mesh of stone and metal that made up the city, Orion didn’t say anything more to his companion who had just continued talking through all of it. Instead, it was only when they came to a shop that he bent down and set the crate down. “Just wait here. I’ll talk to the shopkeeper myself.” And with that, Orion pushed open the door and stepped inside.
The shop was clearly one of magic itinerary all pressed around. The shopkeeper seemed to be talking to someone but quickly looked up. “Orion! Hello, lad, you find what I asked for?”
“Yeah yeah….”

Niso had been still getting used to the magics of this world, and as such he’d been looking into it where he could. It wasn’t quite the level of obsession whith which he searched into his methods of immortality back home, but it was a close, if somewhat more chill approach. He could take a few days without looking more into the details of the world, but when he got into researching it was instantly clear he was both engaged and curious, and while harnessing the magic’s of the world still escaped his mental grasp, he was at least curious in magical items, having bought two bands of ‘constitution’ recently, which helped him sustain a bit more damage now that his pain threshold was back to normal.
“So this box is…?” He asked curiously, lifting up the box the shopkeep put before him. He’d clearly show more curiosity than interest in buying, but the shop was pretty barren so the shopkeep hadn’t minded entertaining him while he waited for genuine business.
“A box of doubling. Its uses are limited, but open it, aim it at something, or even someone, close it up, and when you re-open a copy of the original will emerge. Typically it will fade after a few days though. Stops people from having issues with clones.”
“Huh…are the clones er…obedient?”
The shopkeep shrugged. “So I’m told but I’ve never risked it myself. They’ll obey you for a few days but after that free will starts to form, so if they don’t start fading…well there’s a customer service line on the bottom of the box.”
“Huh.” He was just turning the box over to see the helpline information when someone walked in. He wasn’t bothered not being the focus anymore, but what did grab him was the fact the name ‘Orion’ was uttered. Instantly his eyes perked up. Ever since seeing Mia he’d had a small urge to see who else was about and ‘get the band back together. “Orion!?” Though, as he turned to see them.
Green hair and attitude? Check. Imposing build…not so check.
“Oh er…not so check. Sorry thought he was referring to Orion Verde.”

As his name was registered, Orion’s gaze dropped from the shopkeeper to the dark haired young man he had been talking to. Almost immediately after, however, his brow quirked up in question. “Orion Verdi? Yeah that’s me,” he stated setting the box down to the side and setting a hand on his hip. “What do ya want?”
The shopkeeper looked from Orion to Niso and then back to Orion again. “Ah uh, you know each other?”
Orion looked back to the shopkeeper and shrugged his shoulders. “I don’t keep up with who knows and doesn’t know me, yeash.”

Niso’s eyes narrowed and returned to the young guy before him who stood about equal with him, a little stunned by the same last name. Okay, lots of people had the same name, and hair…and clearly didn’t struggle with their muscles, and- Okay hello shopkeeper conversation being had here. Yes I know I was the one who originally interrupted the two of you, what’s your point?
Still the shopkeeper did invite one thing Niso didn’t feel could be faked, and that was Orion’s attitude. It was a lot more harsh and snarky, like the guy had something weighing on his shoulders, but it definitely had a ring of Orion to it. Niso scoffed a little, unable to believe this was actualy Orion infront of him, rather rudely and blatantly walking up to him, and doing the ‘flat hand from forehead’ to compare the fact they were practically the same size. If anything Niso actually felt a tad taller. Might have been his messy hair.
“Wow Mia gets taller and you get shorter. Ain’t that crazy.~” He smirked big and wide, before recalling this Orion wouldn’t know him and offering his hand, tucking the magic doubling box under his arm. “Oh sorry! Niso for me. Dunno if you’re native or outsider, but in my outsider world there was another Orion, only he was a lot…” He gestured openly with his arms with an ‘awe’ motion. “Bigger.”

Orion’s features scrunched up as Niso closed the distance between them and made height hand gestures. Folding his arms in front of himself, he raised an eyebrow. As much as he wanted to raise up his lip and show his fangs, he waited. What came thereafter, however, had him blinking a couple of times. Hm? Who was Mia? W— Another world where… where…
“A lot bigger?” he ask-stated. He could feel the shopkeeper eyeing him a little differently now but wouldn’t address him immediately. “Ugh…” A shake of head was given before he finally reached out and took the hand shaking it once.
Both eyes zeroed in on Niso a little harder thereafter. “Don’t know a Niso, but it sounds kinda Japanese I guess.” A pause. “You Volgola or something?” His head tilted to one side. “If you know what that is even, I guess. I am an outsider, but I guess not your outsider.” Weird enough, but he had heard weirder things.

Niso shook Orion’s hand pretty readily, glancing between him and the shopkeeper, wondering what exactly he’d set off between the two of them in the comment he’d made but mentally shrugging it off, though as Orion confirmed there was no Niso in there world he felt a twinge disappointed, though continued to listen as he tried to gather where Niso himself was from.
“Forget Volgola. The hell’s a Japanese?” He narrowed his eyes, entirely unsure what that was when it came to him. He did mentally note ‘races’ amongst humans still seemed to be a thing here, so maybe that was just a constant across worlds…huh. Ya think at least one of them might have some universal constants there but Niso guessed not. Weird to think about really. “Anyway no, seems we’re not from the same world there.” He shrugged with a casual smile. “Still, great meeting other multi-versal constants, especially interesting ones like you…”
He then leaned forward, looking right into Orion’s eyes, hands resting in his own pockets as he saw the snarky soul behind them, at least metaphorically. “I’d say…ya still look about as pissed off with life as my old Orion did…you an elf or something?”

“Awe.” Niso’s questions were enough to assure Orion he wasn’t from his world. “Hard to explain what Japan is when you’ve never been there. Even harder to explain what Vongola is.” He shrugged his shoulders nonchalantly now tilting his head to one side again. “Doesn’t matter too much.”
The soft change in topic had Orion’s brow raising a bit again, and he leaned back as Niso leaned forward. “Do I look like an elf to you?” he asked pulling at one of his earlobes and stretching it a little. Suddenly, though, Orion was leaning forward, and his mouth became a maw elongating and expanding. Right up against Niso’s face, Orion snapped his now sharp teeth. “Try a wolf—“
“Rion— please don’t shift in the store!” The shopkeeper squeak-whined.

Niso tipped his head at the awe, wondering what exactly had disappointed Orion. Whatever a Japan was was a pretty weird place if even a version of Orion was struggling to explain it. Even worse was a Vongola apparently…sounded like a fancy desert if Niso was honest. The kind you’d get at a way too posh resteraunt that was somehow more sour than sweet. Hearing it didn’t matter, he just shrugged with a smile. “If you say so.~”
Shoulders relaxing a bit as he looked this new version of an old…well not friend but lets go with ‘partner in crime’ given their brief period as buddying viners and pranksters alike back in the Pokemon world. Niso chuckled oddly at the comment of him not being an elf, shrugging with a smirk. “I mean apparently succubus’ aren’t evil here and anyone who wants them can eat a macaroon or something to get horse legs. You could have just had cosmetic magic done I dunno.” He stuck his tongue out, but slowly retracted it at the comment about shifting into a wolf, taking a moment as he looked between the two, not even flinching at the sharp gnashing of teeth.
“Oooooh! Werewolf!? They have those here too!?~ Boy this place is a whole bowl of surprises.” Niso proceeded to invade the personal space of this young version of his friend, pushing his thumbs against his upper lip and trying to get a better look at his fangs. “So I’m guessing you can control it and it’s not like, a full moon shenanigan?”

Orion blinked a couple of times in surprise when Niso didn’t immediately shrink away from the head of a wolf. Before he could even shift back either, Niso was already pulling at his maw. “Arroww..” No that wasn’t what he had intended to say. “Rooof…” Nope.
A shake of head was given, and Orion pulled back this time. His features retracted some becoming more humanoid again aside from still very wolfy ears and some more pronounced fangs. “Yeash,” Orion snorted a bit shaking his head some again. The fur at the sides of his face fell away this time as well. “Yeah, I have control over it…” he answered instead reaching up to rub his ears a bit. “Though I’d’ve expected you to be a lil afraid…” He glanced sideways to the shop keeper who was cringing even more now. Yellow eyes flickered back to Niso again. “I like you… why don’t you lemme finish up here, and we can have a lil chat, mkay?”

Hearing the struggled attempts at speech, Niso pulled his hands back with his ever oblivious smile, shaking the light saliva that had gotten on his fingers off and grinning at Orion. Yup. That look in his eyes was borderline "I'd kill you" but also "If i wasn't so tired of this shit", so Niso was even more assured this was a version of his old partner in crime. "Hhahahaha! Yeah. Everyone would!" He commented on the expectation that he should be scared. "Trust me when you've conquered the two fears you had in life everything else kinda just becomes a chore at best. It's more fun to face it with a smile.~" He put his fingers into his cheeks at the corners of his lips, drawing them up into an even bigger smile with their help before glancing back towards the shop keep.
"Oh! Yes! Business! Er..." Niso looked at the box in his hands for a moment but returned it to the counter, placing a few Florence on the counter. "I know it's not enough to buy it but can you maybe keep one of these behind the counter for a while? Gonna see if I can scrape together the coin to come back and get one." The shopkeep hopefully agreed to keep one safe for him and considered what he'd already gave a start tot he payment, Niso waving to both of them as he walked out. "I'll just wait by the lampost outside!~"

Orion’s brow quirked as Niso commented on mastering two fears. “Yeah?” He’d be lying if he said he wasn’t a little bit curious all things considered. The smile he received thereafter earned a small roll of eyes.
As Niso addressed the shopkeeper, Orion turned his attention to the door. “Axe, you still out there?” he called. The door immediately swung open, and Orion deadpanned. How long had he been listening in propped up against the door? With a wolf ear sticking out from under his stupid beanie too. Axe had straightened and was already picking up the boxes again. As Niso finished up, Axe was carrying stuff inside. Orion followed Niso only so far as to nod and say something along the lines of “Aight.” Before… actually… closing the shop door? That was… a little disconcerting, but maybe they needed some privacy?
Whatever was going on behind closed doors took about five minutes. It was quiet, no explosive sound or otherwise coming out, though movement could be seen in the glass. As Orion stepped out again, the dubbed Axe followed him so far as the door before waving him off and disappearing back inside. There was a considerable clinking sound coming from one of his pockets now. “Sorry that took so long, shopkeepers, ya know?” Orion smirked, his eyes aglow, and the corner of his lip curled some to reveal a fang or two. “So… why don’t you start from the beginning, tell me about myself.”

Waiting casually outside, Niso's head lightly bobbed as he played himself some music in his head, maybe remembering the notes a little more clearly than he should. He didn't exactly bring sheet music with him so anything he played from his pianist work now had to be re-learned from memory. Sometimes he'd get it wrong but in just the right way it was still pleasant to the ears, other times he'd have to spend a night testing every line of notes to make sure it all sounded right when played together. He was mesmerizing himself with playing it in his head it took Orion's words to make him come back to reality.
"Oh! There you are! I was kinda busy with something so er...didn't even realize you were a while.~" He smirked and started walking with Orion a little with no real aim, just preferring to move as he spoke, hearing the question about the other Orion and smirking. "He was like...a bear on the edge fo hybernation. Thats always the easiest impression i could give. He could probably kill you and you knew he could if ya flipped the wrong switch...but he always looked like it'd be too much of a bother to do so."

Kinda busy? Orion’s brow quirked upwards as Niso spoke. The latter hadn’t seemed to be doing anything, but that hardly meant anything with magic in the world. Niso could have been astral projecting somewhere or something for all Orion knew. “Good,” was all Orion answered with instead. He too preferred to walk than stand and moved pretty easily forward without real aim.
His interest, however, was peaked as Niso began talking about who he was in another world. A bear on the edge of hibernation… Huh, not what he would have considered himself, but… Could probably kill you…. But it was too much work… Orion snorted softly. A hand reached back and set itself on the back of his neck. A few fingers drummed absently before twisting themselves up into the loose green hairs there.
“Well I guess some things stay constant over every dimension,” Orion decided slowly glancing upwards. He may have had more energy than some of his dimensional counterparts, but even he didn’t have infinite energy at all times. A pause. “What’d he do in that world? Anything like here?” Realizing he hadn’t even really described what kind of job he did there, Orion smirked a bit. “I’m an item trader, if that wasn’t obvious.” “Item trader” was about as nonchalant as he could get away with saying. Another thought came and went. “What do you do? Or what did you do? In your world.” A pause. “You said you were my friend or something?”

Niso noticed that Orion’s mood shifted at the stages of him describing his other self and was curious what exactly earned the snort, though he assumed his analogy between his orion and a sleepy bear was pretty funny. Was it the killing or the lazy part that made this Orion think there were constants? Maybe both? Either way Niso seemed to be making a good start on making friends with this world’s Orion, so that was good.
“Oh er…he did a buncha stuff. He cooked a lot for a hobby, but mostly he worked for this crime lord lady who did all the white collar stuff in the region. She was pretty nice if a bit snooty. Half sure he had a crush on her but Can’t be fully sure about that. It was kind of a weird love triangle situation in some ways….” Niso shrugged it off. “Generally though he was a cool guy. Very stabby and arm breaky, but cool, and chill. We hung out sometimes on jobs or even just made funny videos together!~”
“As for what I do…I killed people, sowed chaos, carved ‘I love my girlfriend’ into the side of a building using a beam firing dragon. Ya know, the kinda stuff ya do when you’re bored.” He smirked and shrugged casually and looked to Orion as if none of that was wrong, a smile still on his face, maybe a little too disconnected, forgetting this was a new, potentially less accepting Orion he was talking to. “I also stole the wealth of noble families and slaughtered millions of woodland creatures to gain immortality, but that’s all in the past. Nowadays I play piano at a resteraunt.~”

A devious sort of smile quirked at the corners of Orion’s mouth as he listened to Niso’s description of himself. Crime lord lady… Heh. That certainly sounded like him, didn’t it? Half sure he had a crush on her— Color warmed Orion’s features on hearing that. Love triangle situation— Oh? With who else? Heh. Did it really matter, though? Nah, it’s not me me… Very staby, arm breaky, but cool, and chill. That was what Orion was most interested in if he was being honest with himself. “Heh… nice.”
Then Niso described what he did. Yellow eyes shifted away from the scene before them to Niso’s profile. The self-description did spark a memory of a certain someone, or perhaps a certain someones, in fact. “Ah, not Vongola but Millefiore….” Orion muttered more to himself than to Niso.
W-wait what? “Slaughtered millions of woodland creatures?” Orion repeated stopping in mid step. Turning to Niso, Orion looked him over again very hard and scrutinizing now. An eyebrow raised and lowered a couple of times, and it was clear Orion was considering this very carefully now. “You ever been in jail for all that shit?” he finally asked, slowly turning and starting to walk again. That probably wasn’t the response anyone was expecting, but that was Orion for you.
