Catkin are human-like creatures with cat-like features and behaviors.
Appearance | ||
Height: 4'11" (150cm) | Build: Lithe, agile Ashling is very small and cute. She has a tannish complexion and modest curves, with B-cup breasts. Her shoulder-length curly hair, cat-like ears, and fluffy tail are all a rich reddish color, as is the fur that covers her cat-like digitigrade feet from just above her ankles down. Her large eyes are a vivid green, and can slit like a cat's. The rest of her features are humanoid. Or well, all but one. Ashling can sprout or retract large coppery feathered wings at will. This is not part of her race's features, but the result of a spell cast on her during her past adventures. She tends to wear tight clothing in mostly rich green and brown, with perhaps some gold accents. Her clothes tend to be a mixture of cloth and leather, and she rarely wears shoes. She often wears a collar with a large jingle bell, though she removes it when stealth is needed.
Personality | ||
Ashling is generally pretty friendly, albeit a little reserved with new people. She's not exactly shy and isn't afraid to walk up to someone and start a conversation, but she doesn't always feel a strong urge to do so either. She is typically very helpful, though, and if she sees someone in need of assistance she will offer to help. Of course, that partially just comes with the territory of being an adventurer. She is a bit naive and tends to try to believe the best in people, even if she can also be just a little paranoid after a few years of adventuring. She knows there are Bad People in the world, and some people give her very Bad Vibes, but without such vibes or some kind of evidence she tries to believe most people are pretty Good. She tries to stay upbeat most of the time, just taking a little time to herself to recover in the rare event she gets to feeling down and rarely dwelling on negative things for too long. It is pretty rare for her to get too angry, though she may get a little irritated or fussy if teased or the like. For instance, she is terrified of open water as a result of past trauma, and will get very irritated if people attribute it to "cats hate water" or the like.
History | ||
Ashling never knew her parents. She was raised from infancy by an orc who she always saw as her real father. Though they were always on the move and never had a real home, Dad protected her well, and when she was old enough he started training her to look out for herself. Of course she could never match his strength, so instead he taught her to use her small size and nimble feet to her advantage, and in time she grew into quite the young rogue. Sometimes they did odd jobs to survive, while sometimes Ashling would steal for them-- though she tried to pick targets with plenty to spare. When she was 15, however, she and her father were attacked by a gang of pirates and got separated. Ashling was taken prisoner and forced to work on the pirates' ship for several months before she escaped, giving her quite a fear of open water in the process, as well as a fear of pirates. She tried looking for her father, but never found him. At 16, she met some folks who would eventually become her adventuring party: a monk named Michael, a sorcerer named Courtney, and others. Courtney in particular became a close friend after some time traveling together, and eventually the two dated for a while. She started wearing her collar as a symbol of being "his", but over time they just kind of drifted apart as adventures took them in different directions. The break-up was amicable and she still considers him a good friend even though they don't really talk anymore, and she decided she still likes the collar. She and the party went on numerous adventures together, including saving a village from a feral dragon and helping it to rebuild; but after two years, she's set out on her own again, looking for new adventures, and still hoping to find news of her dad someday. |
