Centaurs of Lucien's variety have the head, arms, and torso of a human with the lower half of a full quadruped horse. Lucien's lower half is that of a Selle Français, a French show horse, of a chestnut color.
Appearance | ||
Height: 7'4'' (224 cm) | Build: Thin Muscular Lucien is a tall thin-muscular type all around. The show horse style and gait of his lower half is reflected in the general musculature and structure of his upper half. He’s built for running, dancing, and performance more than excessive combat. His horse half stands about 5 feet on its own. It is almost completely a solid chestnut color with only white spotted socks to break up the color. The hair of his tail is similar to the yellowish locks of his head but a bit paler overall. He does wear horseshoes and has a lot of extensive upkeep for them. He normally wears a saddle blanket or saddle bags of various types and forms. Lucien’s human half makes up for the rest of his height. His skin is a sort of midrange complexion capable of looking rather pale and deeply tan depending on the season and the lighting. He rarely outright burns and takes precautions against this pretty seriously. He has very few scars and tends to do everything he can to avoid scarring, in fact. However, he does have a pretty detailed flower-cross tattoo on the side of his fucking neck, so go off, I guess. One will notice even though his hands are lightly callus, his fingernails are manicured. Lucien may be best known, however, for his facial features and smile. He’s a characteristically bright persona with high features that make expressions very pronounced. His golden eyes tend to accentuate this alongside his yellow eyebrows. He has his ears pierced once in both ear. These holes tend to be filled with simple loops or studs during normal days and long hanging earrings in show performances. His blonde hair/mane is always growing. From the top of his head, it flows down and sits often at his shoulders, sometimes longer depending on how long he has waited to have it cut. In the summer months, he cuts it much shorter above his ears. Depending on how much sun he has gotten, his hair can range in color from a pale yellow to a deep golden color. He doesn’t tend to tie it back except in certain circumstances such as performances. Luci’s overall clothing aesthetic tends to shift drastically depending on season and situation. He is the type who would wear a t-shirt and a jacket with a saddle blanket and call it a day, but he’s just as much someone who would get all dressed up in the right situation. Still, you’re more likely to find him in the prior rather than the latter. One piece of jewelry he doesn’t take off is a simple chain style loop around his neck. When asked about the pendant that’s supposed to complete the necklace, however, he just grins quietly.
Personality | ||
On first meeting Lucien, one tends to find an upbeat, friendly, yet easy going young man. He’s the type to offer up compliments and simple conversation, going with the flow of said conversation or leading it if a person happens to be exceptionally withdrawn. He likes meeting people, catching small talk with strangers, and developing groups of people. One thing people will note, however, is that he can be rather transient. He tends to live in the moment and tries not to focus on the future or the past too much. Because of this, developing deep, meaningful relationships with him are often the burdens of other’s minds, not Lucien’s. In many ways, what one sees of Lucien is all an act or performance. He squishes himself into whatever form people want of him, what they need of him, what they like about him. He is very much a showman in certain ways, being a performer as much as musician. You have to be peppy and cordial for people to enjoy you, yeah? Yeah. However, unfortunately, much of this doesn’t stop when he leaves the stage. It can be rather hard for even Lucien himself to fully know who he is at any given moment in time, and rather than fret about it, he has chosen to embrace it, contradictions and all. Luci waxes and wanes between brash and energetic and distanced and lazy. At times, he is up for anything and everything. Adventure? Performance? Dates? Heck yeah. Other times, he can’t always be bothered to get up and go places, come sit down and watch the clouds with him instead. He’s very much someone who can stare at scenery and listen to music for hours at a time and feel just as fulfilled as he would doing anything else. He is all at once someone who lives in excess and materialism and someone who doesn’t actually need such things to get by. He enjoys a lot of things for a lot of different reasons and finds fulfillment in a lot of different ways. In actuality, there are very few things that Lucien has mixed feelings about. Most are straightforward to the point of stubbornness. However, it’s very rare for people to get a full grasp of what he is feeling at any given moment. Lucien tends to place himself in the shoes of a follower rather than a leader. He can and will suppress his own opinions in order to soothe another or get things done. Therefore, it can appear to some that his opinions are flimsy and fleeting or conflicting and contradictory. It just happens to be contingent on who he is with and the situation at the time. Yes, yes this is a long-winded way of saying he can be an apathetic doormat who would rather slip from a conversation he’s uncomfortable with than stand up against it. At one time, Lucien hungered for fulfillment. He sought it in all kinds of ways and was never really satisfied in any capacity. Again, rather than continue to seek it out, he turned to a sort of nihilistic approach that emphasizes the transience of everything and how it’s better to just take it all in than worry. Granted, there are still things he worries about from time to time, but the nature of his own existence is not one of them. He does what he wants, and that is enough for him.
History | ||
As an outsider, Lucien came from another world, one very different from this one. In it, Pokemon existed, among other things. He was born as the youngest of a noble family and raised alongside two siblings. His elder brother took up the family mantel as the next heir, and his sister became well known for her special talents with Pokemon and skills in aura use. Lucien as the baby, however, opted to be lazy for most of his life. He did reasonably in school but was never as great as his brother. He developed powers of aura similar to his sister but feared being overshadowed by her at every turn. As time went on, however, he did find his niche as the family embarrassment. He liked to rebel for little to no reason and be stubborn and loud at every turn. However, this backfired in the way of relations with his father who tried very hard to sweep his existence under the rug in many ways. His mother, instead, babied him more and more in response. She didn’t push him for fear of his excessive reactions, and she catered a lot to his toxic habits. For a while, this was all a messy situation. When Lucien turned ten and was allowed out on his Pokemon journey with a partner in tow, he went as far away as he could get. This had an effect of calming his self-destructive tendencies. He initially got into a rough spot when he joined the local gang and tried to be a badass, but after the government issued him an ultimatum, he settled for community service and becoming part of said community. He learned to play numerous musical instruments and found his calling in showing off what he could do with his Pokemon. He had many transient relationships during this time, but it would take a lot of time for him to hammer out just why he felt so fake in it all. After many years of peace, however, his sister would be caught up in a nasty plot, brainwashed, and blinded. His brother and cousin had been threatened (and even killed very briefly in the latter’s case), but it was his sister whom he felt the worst for. This guilt eventually caused him to reconnect with family, and he eventually made the move to this land. And then he stayed. He lived there as a breeder and became a successful coordinator as well. He made friends with numerous individuals including a bright ray of sunshine that was Serafeyna. Lucien also learned, however, how much one person managed to screw everything up. In the plot to become immortal, Niso Konto had not only used his sister and harmed his brother and cousin, he’d taken out an entire subsection of forest in the process. Luci’s aura showed him just how dead it all was. He’d run into Konto and take out this aggression on him, but it didn’t leave a great feeling. In the process he’d learned Sera was dating Konto, and Luci didn’t know how to take that at first. Anger, sadness, whatever other feelings, Luci eventually found he wanted to fix things and settled on trying to return the forest to its former state. In this way, Lucien got more wrapped up in all kinds of business. In a strange situation involving Hoopa, however, Luci, Sera, and Niso would all get thrown into this world. Luci’s head wanted to explode from the sheer amount of aura that was in the area, and he wasn’t too pleased at first. However, when he learned he could change himself… well… damn if he didn’t like the idea of being a show-half-horse among other things. One little treat could do it too? Hell yeah. He’s still pretty factionless at the moment, but that may change. |
