With a straw basket hanging onto Alice's forearm with a set flowers already stacked in it, a jolly smile was set on her face as she wandered around one of Elysia's gardens. Going to one of these gardens always helped calm Alice down, asides from the many other activities that are a bit less relaxing to do. With perfect weather in the sky, what else would ruin this perfect day?
Alice crouched down near a group of roses and pulled one out from the ground. She took a quick sniff of the flower before sighing in content. With a gentle nod to herself, she softly stacked the rose into the basket. Shrugging, she decided to pull one more out from the ground then straightened her legs to stand up.
As she did that, she continued to wander around the garden for more flowers to help brighten up her house.
The air felt really really good in Elysia. It wasn’t near as cold as Tescalua or weirdly warm as Vervitae. It was a little warmer than Silvaria at the moment, and holy hell of a lot cooler than when he was in Ardura. Lucien could get used to this place, honestly.
Initially, Lucien had come to the town on a package run. Since getting his horse legs, he had taken up being a messenger in his free time. As much as he liked being a musician, it didn’t really bring in a lot of money when no one knew who he was just yet, so this made a good substitute for now. Once that was done, though? With nothing else to do for the day, he figured he’d look around the area and maybe find a place to relax and play.
Walking slowly through one of the gardens, however, Lucien would be immediately distracted by a pretty girl picking flowers. The corner of his lips quirked up as he shifted to pull the guitar on his back around and started to strum a few melodic notes.
Another group of flowers caught her attention, this time a group of sunflowers as Alice approached them and crouched down. Another sniff was made at the group of sunflowers before nodding to herself and this time picking up two of them from the ground. She straightened out her knees to stand up to better inspect the flowers before she placed them in the basket.
Alice saw another flower type that immediately caught her interest, but her attention diverged when she started to hear music. Last time she checked, the garden didn't have some sort of stereo lying around to play music. However, the music played was rather very pleasing to hear; so much, she couldn't help but ever so slightly nod along to the notes being played.
As she looked around to see who was playing, she spotted a face of a handsome man with the lower body of a horse. It threw her off at first when she began to look down, but nonetheless it didn't stop the fact that she enjoyed the music being played.
The woman, with a smooth smile, approached the centaur. "I don't suppose you can play something a little more upbeat? I'm rich in flowers, so I'll pay as much as you want me to." She joked while raising the basket.
As the woman turned around, Lucien flashed a warm grin and kept playing alone. Golden eyes closed as he strummed a bit, but his mind’s eye opened readily reading the air. The aura in such a place was very natural, smooth, and easy to look at. The woman’s aura was easy to see in comparison.
As the woman approached, Lucien opened one eye and offered a silly grin. “I’ll wear a flower crown ‘f ya make one~ they’re lookin’ really pretty but not as pretty as you,” he joked-assured back offering a big cheesy grin thereafter. Fluidly right after, though, he moved up a key and strummed a little faster the beat picking up in the process. One hoof in back too started tapping. “Name’s Lucien, what’s yers?” he spoke only a little over the guitar now.
The woman couldn't help but snicker at the centaur's cheesy line while shaking her head."Arts and crafts isn't exactly my strongest suit, but I'm sure I can still try to whip something up for you." Alice said with a chuckle, taking a quick peak at her flower basket before looking back at the man. Her nodding became more visible as the tempo of the notes became faster, her smile mildly widening. "Now this right here is music." She said.
"I'm Alice." She introduced yourself. "And I'll say, Lucien, you're actually pretty good. You're going to have to teach me some lessons some time. I'll even make more flower bands for you for that." She said with a smirk. She remembered her much earlier years of her parents trying to get her to play instruments, except she was more or less forced to than wanting to, which killed her drive to learn how to play instruments when she was a kid.
Alice. Lucien had actually known quite a few Alices in his home world. A few of their faces even drifted to the forefront of his mind. His features, however, only heightened as she assured him he was pretty good. “Oh yeh? It’s not so hard,” he answered. “Like six chords max.” With that, he went over the basic chord schemes very briefly before going back to the regular beat.
Lucien about jolted when another sound so similar to his own chords caught his ears. Pausing mid-strum, Lucien glanced around as the music continued going?? Squinting towards a field of flowers that were not too far off, he noticed how the flowers raised their blooms briefly released a similar sound= together making a small chorus of strumming. “Woah look ‘t that…” he pointed out.
Alice turned her attention to a batch of flowers that were singing similar notes that were played by the centaur earlier, an intrigued look on her face. She looked at her flowers in her basket, then back at the other flowers. Well, she was damned. Either her timing is always off whenever she visits these gardens to miss a thing like this or her mind was occupied enough to block these things out.
The woman's eyes lit up momentarily as she turned her attention back to Lucien. "Hey, do you think you can play along with them?" She asked.
A bright, wild smile flashed across Lucien’s features as Alice asked if he could play along. “Hell yeah I can,” he mused along with the tune before starting to strum to the flower’s tune. As if in response to him, a few more had started up as well. “Neato… kinda like they’re alive almost…” Lucien murmured more to himself than to Alice. Then again, plants were alive, but just uh, not like that usually? Hahahah.
Actually, if he didn’t know any better, he’d say they were Pokemon who were just hiding right under the surface, hahaha. Too bad his aura vision already defeated that thought. “Do ya know what they’re called??” he asked back at Alice even though she’d seemed pretty surprised by them too. For some reason the name 'echo flower' sounded really nice, but ya know if it was a gardenish area, someone had already named it.
Alice noticed that more flowers began to strum themselves along as Lucien started to play the guitar. "Wow… I wonder if other gardens have this type of wonder is in all gardens." She muttered to herself. Alice never exactly visit these gardens long enough to know whether or not it was actually a thing. Only when she felt like decorating the house with ordinary flowers. It was a good thing too, she’d prefer her flowers to stay silent.
"Hmm...I’m actually not too sure.” Alice answered while scratching the back of her head. "Singing Flowers? Mimic Musical Flowers? I don’t know the scientific name of it, but its street name should have something to do with music.” She said with a shrug.
Lucien grinned and nodded. “Sounds right,” he answered briefly. Something music or melodious made sense for such things. Did he want to get a closer look? “Hella.” He strummed a little faster now and swayed with his own beat. Side stepping a couple of times, he turned the entire thing into a four-legged dance right on over to them. The flowers could not mimic such steps, but Luci would have been in awe if they could heh.
And then a different thought came to Lucien. Shifting the guitar onto his back, he waited a moment to see if the flowers would keep going without his lead before looking forward again. “Yaw anna dance?” he asked of Alice a cheesy smile splitting his features.
Alice approached to the singing flowers, her attention then went over to the centaur who was enjoying himself with a dance as he continued to play with his guitar and the flowers mimicking along. Alice, on the other hand, could only clap and nod along. She wasn't so much of a dancer since she never really had any interest in doing it, so the best thing she could do is to just cheer on.
Until Lucien asked if she wanted to dance. "Eh, I'm not so much of a dancer... I got two left feet. I mean, unless you don't mind me showing me a few moves so I'd be less likely to embarrass myself." She explained with a sheepish smile.
“Aweeee…” Lucien frowned— then reached up and pulled at his face to accentuate that frown. “Well then I’ll just have to show you some moves or maybe even…” He reached down to her and in one fluid motion with his hands at her hips, lifted her up, and started to move in a circle. “I dunno what yer talkin’ ‘bout… you’re so smooth it’s like you’re feet don’t even touch the ground!” he laughed raising her up high again before setting her down slowly thereafter. Bending both front legs, he made a dramatic bow right after.
"Whoa!" Alice squeaked when she felt herself getting picked up from the ground, holding onto Lucien for safety. As she was slowly placed down, she let go of her grasp from Lucien. "Well, that was... a performance alright." She said with a soft laugh, fixing a strand of her behind her ear. That was one of the last things she'd expect, but hey, she wouldn't mind something like that happening again. "You know, you're pretty fun to talk to. How about we sort of walk and talk a little bit?" She asked with a smile.
A laugh spilled from Lucien as Alice spoke. “Hella it was,” he answered warmly back. At the offer, he grinned a bit. “Hey, that sounds great…” Stretching a bit, he rolled his shoulders before folding one arm over the other and then repeating the motion on the other side.
“Ya know what else we could do though?” He asked with a slightly more devious look. “How ‘bout you hop on and we go for a run?” Twisting around, he patted the back of his horse half. Sure, there was a saddle bag, but it was far enough back as not to be obtrusive, and though the simple blanket didn’t make for the best saddle, but Lucien didn’t expect to run that fast at the end of the day— that and he actually listened to people unlike some of the actual horses he’d ever met heh.
One of Alice's eyebrows knitted up a bit when she was offered to ride Lucien. She would be lying if she said it didn't feel a bit odd to be offered such a thing. Not that she was actually against it or anything. As a matter of fact, it sounded a whole lot of fun and would be an idiot to pass up an opportunity. Alice did thought about riding the centaur the moment she saw him, but figured she'd be a weirdo if she just straight up asked him. Good thing he was the one to make the offer.
"Oh, sure!" Alice cheered with an excited smile. She stopped in her tracks and immediately climbed herself on top of Lucien. "Just don't go TOO fast though, but fast enough for me to enjoy. It's sort of my first time." She admitted. Alice has ridden a horse one or twice and she actually found herself to enjoy the ride, so doing something similar to that made her excited on the inside.
